Scams | You know! But do they know? We have received an increase in reports regarding mobile phone scams.
Victims have received text messages and phone calls claiming to be from the bank stating that their accounts have been accessed by criminals and that victims need to share details with them ‘their bank’ in order for them to protect their account. These persons are not from the bank!
These persons are very convincing and before victims know it they are sharing personal details and these criminals have access to thousands of pounds.
Your bank will never contact you through telephone or text message asking for personal information.
If someone calls or texts claiming to be from the bank, hang up! Then contact the number on the back of your bank card or bank statement to ensure you get put through directly
Most of us think we are switched on enough to spot the signs and not become victim to such, but, what about or loved ones? Friends and Family? vulnerable neighbours? Are they aware of the signs? Talk to them! Remind them! For further information please contact your local PCSOs
